The Arena
Rimuru came through a rift into a world full of monsters and heroes, curious about a hero called Saitama whom no one in that world could ever beat. He found him in a ramen shop, slurping noodles, wearing a yellow suit and a cape. Rimuru sat down next to him. “Are you Saitama?” Saitama nodded without looking up. “Mm.”
“I heard nobody can beat you,” Rimuru said. Saitama shrugged. “Yeah. It’s kind of boring.” Rimuru smiled. “I can absorb any power and make it mine. If I absorbed yours, maybe you wouldn’t be bored anymore. You’d have a real rival.” Saitama finally looked up from his ramen. “Huh. Okay. Sure. After I finish eating.”
He finished eating. Then he paid. Then they went outside.
Round One
Rimuru started carefully. He tried to analyse Saitama with his skill, Raphael, the wisdom king that can understand anything. Raphael returned a result Rimuru had never seen before: unable to analyse. Rimuru frowned. He tried again. Unable to analyse. Saitama’s power simply did not follow any rule Raphael understood.
Rimuru attacked with magic: black lightning, gravity, flames. Saitama stood there and let it all hit him. When the smoke cleared, he was standing exactly where he had been, his cape slightly singed, picking a noodle out of his teeth.
“Is that it?” Saitama asked, genuinely curious. Rimuru swallowed. “No. Not yet.”
The Turn
Rimuru used Beelzebuth, the power that had devoured gods, magic and entire armies. His body expanded into a vast dark mouth and swallowed Saitama whole. For a moment, there was silence. Rimuru felt Saitama’s power inside his stomach dimension, ready to be analysed, absorbed, made his own.
Then Saitama punched the inside of Rimuru’s stomach dimension. Just a normal punch. The dimension, which had held demon lords and dragon-sized storms of magic, cracked from one end to the other.
Rimuru spat Saitama back out immediately, coughing, his whole body rippling with shock. Saitama landed on his feet and dusted off his cape. “Sorry,” he said. “It was kind of dark in there.”
The Finish
Rimuru stood there, shaking, his body slowly reforming. He realised what had happened: Saitama had broken his own limiter, the invisible ceiling every living being has on its strength, and Beelzebuth could not absorb something that had no ceiling. It would be like trying to drink the ocean.
Saitama walked over and tapped him lightly on the forehead. Rimuru’s body splashed into a puddle of blue slime on the pavement and took a full minute to put itself back together. When it did, Saitama was sitting on the kerb, waiting.
“Sorry,” Saitama said. “Did that hurt?” Rimuru, reformed, sat down next to him and laughed. “No. But I think I just found the one thing in any world I can’t eat.” Saitama nodded sadly. “Yeah. Everyone says that.” They went back into the ramen shop and ordered another bowl each.
The verdict
Saitama wins
Rimuru can analyse, absorb and copy almost anything, but Saitama’s broken limiter has no ceiling to absorb and no rules for Raphael to analyse, and a single punch cracks Rimuru’s stomach dimension.
- Broken limiterSaitama’s power has no ceiling for Beelzebuth to devour.
- UnanalysableRaphael cannot understand him.
- One punchEven a gentle tap disperses Rimuru.
How the rematch could go differently: There is no rematch. Saitama’s whole story is that nobody can beat him.
