The Arena

Saitama had heard that in another universe there was a hero who could fly, shoot lasers from his eyes, and was supposedly unbeatable. For the first time in years, Saitama felt a flicker of hope. Maybe this would finally be a real fight.

Superman agreed to meet him in an empty desert, far from anyone. He arrived politely, cape fluttering, and shook Saitama’s hand. “I hear you’re pretty strong,” Superman said. Saitama shrugged. “Yeah. I hope you are too.”

Round One

Superman started gently, as he always does, a light punch to test his opponent. Saitama barely noticed. Superman hit harder. Saitama scratched his head. Superman hit with real force, a blow that shattered the desert floor for kilometres, and Saitama flew backwards, landed on his feet and dusted himself off.

“Hey, that was pretty good,” Saitama said, genuinely pleased. Superman, a little surprised, used his heat vision. Saitama’s cape caught fire. He patted it out and frowned. “Aw, man. I just bought this.”

Superman tried a different approach and flew him straight up into the stratosphere, then threw him back toward the desert at many times the speed of sound. Saitama hit the ground, left a crater a kilometre wide, and climbed out complaining that there was sand in his ears.

The Turn

Superman stopped holding back. He flew at Saitama at full speed and struck with all the power of the yellow sun, a punch that could crack a planet. Saitama caught it with one hand. His feet sank into the sand, but he did not move.

He looked up at Superman with something like joy. “Okay. Okay! You’re really strong. Let me try something.” He threw a Consecutive Normal Punches, a blur of fists so fast they looked like a wall, and Superman, the Man of Steel, felt every single one.

The Finish

Superman fought back with everything he had: freezing breath, heat vision at full power, punches thrown at the speed of light. Saitama took it all and kept smiling. For a few minutes, he was having more fun than he had ever had in his life.

Then he decided to try a Serious Punch. Superman saw it coming and braced with everything he had. The punch did not land on him; Saitama pulled it at the last instant, out of instinct, and the air pressure alone split the desert clouds for a thousand kilometres and knocked Superman out of the sky.

Superman landed in the sand and stayed down, stunned. Saitama ran over, worried. “Hey, are you okay?” Superman slowly sat up and started to laugh. “You pulled it,” he said. “You pulled that punch.” Saitama scratched his head. “Yeah. You seemed like a nice guy.” They became good friends.

The verdict

Saitama wins

Superman is the strongest hero in his universe, but Saitama is written as a character whose power has no known ceiling, and even a pulled Serious Punch is enough to end the fight.

  • No known limitSaitama has never been seriously hurt in his own story.
  • DurabilityHe shrugs off Superman’s best attacks.
  • Serious PunchEven pulled, its shock wave defeats Superman.

How the rematch could go differently: A version of Superman with reality-warping power, or a narrative designed to give Saitama his first real challenge, is the only way the result changes.

Who do you think wins?

Who would win in a fight between Saitama and Superman?

Saitama wins. Superman is the strongest hero in his universe, but Saitama is written as a character whose power has no known ceiling, and even a pulled Serious Punch is enough to end the fight.
