The Arena
Odin sensed a threat to every realm: a man preparing to trap an entire world in an endless dream, a power that could spread across dimensions. He came to the battlefield of the ninja war in his golden armour, Gungnir in hand, and found Madara Uchiha floating above the field, the Ten-Tails sealed inside him, a ring of black orbs orbiting behind his back.
“You would enslave a world,” Odin said, his voice like thunder. Madara looked down at the one-eyed old god with contempt. “I would save it. In my dream, there is no war, no suffering, no death.” Odin raised Gungnir. “And no choice. That is not salvation. That is a prison.”
Madara laughed. “Then let us see if your spear can stop my dream.”
Round One
Madara attacked first with meteors, dragging two enormous rocks out of the sky and hurling them at Odin. Odin raised Gungnir and the Odinforce blasted both meteors into dust. Madara’s black orbs swept toward him, spheres that disintegrate anything they touch. Odin blocked them with a shield of golden energy, and they hissed and crackled against it.
Madara summoned his Susanoo, a towering blue armoured giant, and swung its sword at the Allfather. Odin met it with Gungnir, and the clash split the battlefield in two. The ninja watching from the edge of the field covered their eyes.
Odin was ancient and immensely powerful. Madara was the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, the source of all chakra. For a long time, neither could overpower the other.
The Turn
Madara rose into the sky and cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi, his Rinnegan reflected in the moon, the light falling over the entire world, trapping every living being who saw it in an endless dream. Across the battlefield, ninjas fell into a trance.
Odin looked up at the red moon. He had given one of his eyes in exchange for wisdom, long ago, at the well of Mimir. The eye that remained had seen the end of the world and the beginning of the next. The dream fell over him, and he saw through it immediately, the way a man sees through a child’s puppet show.
“I have seen Ragnarok,” Odin said, his voice cutting through the illusion. “I have seen the death of gods. Your dream is too small to hold me.”
The Finish
Odin raised Gungnir and drew on the full Odinforce, the power of all nine realms, and hurled the spear that never misses. It struck the moon, shattered the reflection of the Rinnegan, and broke the Infinite Tsukuyomi for the entire world. The ninjas woke, gasping, across the battlefield.
Gungnir returned to Odin’s hand, and he drove it into the ground. A shockwave of golden light rolled across the field and struck Madara, tearing the Ten-Tails out of his body and leaving him kneeling in the dust, mortal and powerless, the black orbs crumbling around him.
Odin stood over him. “You wanted to end suffering,” he said. “But suffering is part of the story. Without it, there is no meaning in the victory.” Madara looked up at him, broken. Odin turned away. “Go and rest, old warrior. Your war is over.” Madara closed his eyes, and for the first time in a hundred years, he slept without dreaming.
The verdict
Odin wins
Madara as the Ten-Tails jinchuriki matches Odin blow for blow, but the Allfather’s eye has seen the end of the world and sees through the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and the full Odinforce breaks it for everyone.
- Wisdom of MimirOdin’s eye sees through the Infinite Tsukuyomi.
- The OdinforceThe power of all nine realms behind a single spear.
- GungnirThe spear that never misses breaks the dream at its source.
How the rematch could go differently: A Madara who used his meteors and truth-seeking orbs to wear Odin down until the Odinsleep claimed him could win on endurance.
