The Arena
Yuno landed on a rooftop in Yorknew City in the middle of a thunderstorm and found a boy with white hair sitting on the edge, eating chocolate and watching the lightning. Killua looked at the stranger with the glowing grimoire and grinned. “You’re strong, aren’t you? I can tell by your aura.”
Yuno nodded once. “I am.” Killua laughed. “Confident. I like that.” He stood up, stuffed the chocolate into his pocket, and his hair began to crackle with static. “Wanna race?” Yuno opened his grimoire, and the wind on the roof began to howl.
Somewhere below, the city lights flickered as the lightning rolled overhead.
Round One
Yuno struck first with a storm of wind blades, and Killua dodged them all, moving like an electrical current between the raindrops. He reappeared behind Yuno and struck with lightning-charged fingers. Yuno spun away on a gust of wind, faster than Killua expected, and they broke apart.
They raced across the rooftops, Yuno flying, Killua jumping, the city a blur beneath them. Yuno controlled the air around them, sending gusts to knock Killua off balance. Killua controlled his own body like a machine, catching himself on ledges, flipping, always landing.
Killua grinned. “You’re fast!” Yuno replied calmly, “So are you.” Then Killua’s whole body lit up with lightning.
The Turn
Killua activated Godspeed, and suddenly he was moving faster than Yuno could see, his body reacting automatically to every attack before his brain had even processed it. Yuno’s wind blades missed. His tornadoes caught nothing. Killua was everywhere at once, and every strike he landed sent lightning running through Yuno’s body.
Yuno called Sylph and entered Spirit Dive, his body glowing green, his speed rising. For a few seconds he kept up, and the two of them clashed in the storm, wind against lightning, high above the city.
Then lightning struck the skyscraper. Killua absorbed it, his Nen recharging instantly, and his speed doubled.
The Finish
Yuno had fought fast opponents before, but none who could recharge from the sky. He threw everything he had into a single attack, a spear of compressed wind aimed at Killua’s heart. Killua dodged it by a hair, and in the same instant was behind Yuno, his hand on the back of his neck.
A tiny spark, carefully controlled, ran through Yuno’s nervous system. His muscles locked. His spirit dive dissolved. He dropped to his knees on the rooftop, unable to move, the rain pouring down around him.
Killua crouched in front of him, grinning, and offered him a piece of chocolate. “You’re really good,” he said. “You almost hit me.” Yuno, slowly regaining control of his body, took the chocolate. “Almost,” he said, “is not winning.” Killua laughed. “Spoken like a real rival.”
The verdict
Killua Zoldyck wins
Yuno’s wind magic and Spirit Dive make him one of the fastest mages in his world, but Killua’s Godspeed reacts faster than thought, and a thunderstorm lets him recharge from the sky.
- GodspeedKillua’s body reacts before Yuno’s attacks can land.
- The stormLightning recharges Killua mid-fight.
