The Arena

Omni-Man came to Japan because he had heard of a hero who was supposedly the strongest on his world, a man whose punches changed the weather. On Viltrum, strength is a rank, and Nolan Grayson wanted to know where this All Might stood.

All Might met him in the empty streets of a city that had been evacuated, his famous smile as wide as ever. “Fear not!” he declared. “Why? Because I am here!” Omni-Man looked unimpressed. “I know,” he said. “That is the problem.”

Round One

All Might hit first, a Texas Smash that turned the street behind Omni-Man into a canyon and blew out every window for a mile. Omni-Man took it on crossed forearms and skidded back a hundred metres, his boots carving trenches in the asphalt. He looked down at his arms, which were bruised. Then he smiled.

He flew at All Might faster than any opponent the Symbol of Peace had ever faced, and the two of them traded blows in the middle of the street, each punch a thunderclap. All Might’s power was incredible. Omni-Man’s was at least equal, and he could fly.

That made all the difference. Omni-Man struck from above, from the side, from behind, never giving All Might a stable footing for his biggest attacks.

The Turn

All Might began to feel the old wound in his side. His power has always had a time limit, and with every minute of full-strength fighting the clock ran faster. Blood touched his lips. He hid it behind his smile.

Omni-Man noticed anyway. He had spent centuries reading weakness in enemies, and he saw the stagger in All Might’s step and the way he protected his left side. So he stopped trading blows and started wearing him down, attacking at range, keeping him moving, making him burn through power he could not afford to waste.

The Finish

All Might knew he had one punch left. He gathered everything One For All had ever given him into his right fist and threw it with a roar: United States of Smash. It caught Omni-Man flush and blew him through three skyscrapers and out the other side of the city.

Omni-Man came back, bleeding from the mouth, one arm broken. All Might was on one knee in the crater, his body shrinking back into his frail true form, the smoke of spent power rising from his skin.

Omni-Man landed in front of him and looked down at the thin, coughing man for a long time. “You fought on empty,” he said, with something like respect. “On my world, that would have made you a legend.” He flew away without striking the final blow, and All Might never told anyone how close it had been.

The verdict

Omni-Man wins

All Might’s peak power is comparable, and his final smash nearly turns the fight, but Omni-Man can fly, has centuries of combat experience, and All Might’s time limit gives a patient Viltrumite a clear path to victory.

  • FlightOmni-Man denies All Might stable footing for his biggest attacks.
  • Time limitAll Might’s power runs out; Omni-Man’s does not.
  • ExperienceOmni-Man reads All Might’s hidden injury and exploits it.

How the rematch could go differently: An All Might in his prime, before his injury and time limit, could match Omni-Man blow for blow and end it with one perfect smash.
