The Arena

Bane woke in a ruined stadium in a world that had already ended, his Venom tubes still connected, and found himself surrounded by an army of soldiers in spiked armour. On the far side of the stadium, a giant of a man sat on a huge black horse, watching him. Raoh, the King of Fist, did not speak until Bane stood up.

“You are strong,” Raoh said, his voice carrying across the entire stadium. “I can see it in your body. Show me how strong.” Bane cracked his neck and smiled behind his mask. “I broke the Batman,” he said. “I will break you too.” Raoh climbed down from his horse.

The army fell silent. They had seen their king fight before. They knew what was coming.

Round One

Bane charged, and the two giants collided in the centre of the stadium with a sound like two trucks hitting head-on. Bane tried a bear hug, the hold that had crushed so many opponents. Raoh broke it with his elbows, lifted Bane off the ground and threw him into the stadium wall.

Bane rose, laughed, and pumped Venom into his veins. His muscles swelled even larger. He came back at Raoh and landed a punch that cracked the king’s armour and drove him back three paces. The army gasped. No one had ever moved Raoh backward.

Raoh looked down at the crack in his armour, then took it off and tossed it aside. “Good,” he said. “Now we fight.”

The Turn

Bane was strong, terrifyingly so, but he was a brawler, and Raoh was a master of Hokuto Shinken, the art of striking the hidden pressure points that control the human body. Raoh let Bane land another blow, then drove two fingers into a point beneath his shoulder.

Bane’s right arm went limp. He stared at it, shocked. He tried to raise it. Nothing. Raoh struck again, a second point on his leg, and Bane dropped to one knee, his Venom-swollen muscles refusing to obey him.

He roared and pumped more Venom into his body, forcing it through the paralysis with raw chemical strength. Raoh watched with real interest. Few men had ever fought through Hokuto Shinken.

The Finish

Bane rose and charged one last time, everything he had in a final, devastating attack. Raoh met it head-on. He gathered his fighting spirit, an aura so powerful it made the air shimmer, and drove his fist into Bane’s chest with a strike that shattered the Venom tubes and threw Bane across the stadium.

Bane lay in the ruins, the Venom leaking out onto the sand, his body shrinking back to its normal size. He tried to rise and could not. Raoh walked over and stood above him, and the whole army waited for the killing blow.

It did not come. “You fought with your whole body,” Raoh said. “You are not worthy of death at my hands.” He climbed back onto his giant horse and rode away. Bane lay in the stadium long after the army had gone, staring up at the empty sky, for the first time in his life truly broken.

The verdict

Raoh wins

Bane’s Venom makes him a terrifying powerhouse who even pushes Raoh back, but Raoh is as strong without chemicals, and Hokuto Shinken lets him shut down Bane’s body from the inside.

  • Hokuto ShinkenPressure-point strikes paralyse Bane’s limbs.
  • Raw powerRaoh matches Venom-boosted strength naturally.
  • Fighting spiritHis aura-charged strikes shatter Bane’s Venom supply.

How the rematch could go differently: A Bane who studied Raoh first and found a way to fight without letting him close could plan his way to an advantage.
