The Arena

Yujiro Hanma had beaten Kenshiro’s brother in arms, or so the rumour said, and the rumour reached the King of Fist. Raoh rode out of the wasteland on his giant black horse, Kokuoh, and found Yujiro waiting in the middle of a ruined city square, arms crossed, grinning like a demon.

“You are the one they call the Ogre,” Raoh said. Yujiro’s grin widened. “And you are the one who calls himself a king. I have eaten kings for breakfast.” Raoh climbed down from his horse. “Then today,” he said, “you will be hungry.”

The back muscles on Yujiro’s shoulders twisted into the shape of a demon’s face. The air around Raoh began to shimmer with fighting spirit. The wasteland went silent.

Round One

They came together in the middle of the square, and the shockwave knocked down three ruined buildings. Yujiro hit Raoh with a punch that would have killed an elephant. Raoh hit back just as hard. Neither of them moved backward. Neither of them blinked.

For a long time, it was a contest of raw power, two monsters trading blows that cracked the earth. Yujiro was faster, his instincts sharper, and he landed more often. Raoh was taller and heavier, and each of his blows landed with the weight of a falling building.

Yujiro laughed with delight. Nobody had made him bleed like this since Baki. Raoh did not laugh. He was studying the Ogre’s body, searching for its secrets.

The Turn

Yujiro attacked with everything he had, a flurry of strikes that drove Raoh back across the square and left him bleeding from a dozen wounds. He went for the finish, the strike that had broken every man he had ever fought. Raoh took it on his chest, and in the same moment drove his fingers deep into a pressure point beneath Yujiro’s ribs.

Yujiro’s demon back froze. He staggered, his breath catching. His body, perfect and invincible all his life, was suddenly refusing to obey him. He looked down at the two small marks on his chest, then up at Raoh, and for the first time in decades, he was surprised.

“Hokuto Shinken,” Raoh said. “The secret art of the body. Your muscles are strong, Ogre. But they are still muscles.”

The Finish

Yujiro forced his body back into motion through sheer will, roaring with rage and exhilaration, and charged. He was still terrifying, still faster than almost anyone alive. But the pressure points had slowed him by a fraction, and against Raoh, a fraction was everything.

Raoh gathered all his fighting spirit into a single fist and struck. The blow hit Yujiro square in the chest and threw him through the wall of a ruined building and out the other side. When the dust settled, the Ogre lay on his back in the rubble, his demon back finally still, grinning up at the sky.

“Ha,” Yujiro said weakly. “That one… actually hurt.” Raoh climbed back onto his horse. “Come back when your body remembers how to obey you,” he said, and rode away into the wasteland. Yujiro lay there for a long time, laughing, already looking forward to the rematch.

The verdict

Raoh wins

Yujiro and Raoh are almost perfectly matched in raw power, but Raoh’s Hokuto Shinken lets him attack Yujiro’s body from the inside, and a fraction of slowness against Raoh is decisive.

  • Hokuto ShinkenPressure points slow even Yujiro’s perfect body.
  • Size and weightRaoh’s blows land with enormous force.
  • Fighting spiritHis aura-charged final strike decides an even contest.

How the rematch could go differently: A Yujiro who refused to let Raoh touch a pressure point and fought from instinct alone could win this coin toss.
