The Arena
Victor Von Doom opened a gateway to another universe for one reason: he had heard of a being there who sought the Anti-Life Equation, the power to control all minds, and Doom had decided that such power should belong to Doom. He stepped through onto Apokolips, a planet of fire pits and slaves, and walked calmly toward the throne.
Darkseid looked down at the green-cloaked figure in iron armour, a mortal walking uninvited into his throne room, and was almost amused. “Who are you,” he said, his voice like stone sliding on stone, “to stand before Darkseid?” Doom did not kneel. “I am Doom. And I have come for your equation.”
The parademons around the throne waited for the order to tear him apart. Darkseid raised one hand. He wanted to see this.
Round One
Doom attacked first, a combined blast of sorcery and technology that would have levelled a mountain. Darkseid took it on his chest and did not move. Doom fired again, adjusting the frequency mid-blast, and this time Darkseid’s skin smoked. The parademons gasped. Darkseid tilted his head, interested.
He fired the Omega Beams. Doom expected them. He had studied every report of Darkseid he could find before stepping through the portal. He teleported aside, and the beams curved after him, as they always do. He raised a mystic shield, and the beams struck it, eroding it like acid. He teleported again. They followed.
For three full minutes, Doom outran the Omega Effect. No mortal in Apokolips had ever done that.
The Turn
Then Doom did something extraordinary. He cast a spell he had prepared for years, a siphon designed to steal power from gods, and drove it into Darkseid’s chest. A fragment of the Omega Effect flowed into Doom’s armour, and he turned it back on its owner. For the first time in millennia, Darkseid bled.
The throne room fell silent. Every parademon and every slave on Apokolips felt their lord’s pain. Darkseid looked down at the black blood on his chest, then at Doom, and something in his stony face changed. Not anger. Respect, perhaps. And a decision to stop holding back.
“You are clever, Doom,” he said. “Clever enough to make me remember what I am.”
The Finish
Darkseid rose from his throne, and his full power filled the planet. The fire pits roared. The Omega Beams came again, not two, but dozens, curving through the air from every direction. Doom’s shields fell one by one. His armour began to erode. The stolen power in his gauntlet flickered and died, overwhelmed by its true master.
One beam struck his armour and erased half his mystic defences. Another caught his leg. Doom fell to one knee, still casting, still defiant, still refusing to accept what was happening. Darkseid stood over him and held one hand above his head, a single command away from erasing him completely.
Then he lowered his hand. “Go back to your world, Victor Von Doom,” he said. “You may be useful to me someday.” Doom was thrown back through his portal, wounded but alive. In Latveria, in a ruined laboratory, he removed his damaged mask and began to plan, for the first time in his life, against an enemy he truly feared.
The verdict
Darkseid wins
Doom’s preparation and genius let him outrun the Omega Effect and even make Darkseid bleed, but Darkseid is a New God with a planet’s worth of power, and once he stops holding back, no mortal armour can stand against him.
- GodhoodDarkseid’s raw power is far beyond what Doom can match without stolen help.
- The Omega EffectTracking beams that erase whatever they touch.
- Home groundOn Apokolips, the whole planet answers to Darkseid.
How the rematch could go differently: A Doom who had stolen the Beyonder’s power, as he once did in his own universe, would turn this into a battle between gods.
Who do you think wins?
Who would win in a fight between Doctor Doom and Darkseid?
Darkseid wins. Doom’s preparation and genius let him outrun the Omega Effect and even make Darkseid bleed, but Darkseid is a New God with a planet’s worth of power, and once he stops holding back, no mortal armour can stand against him.
