The Arena
Yujiro Hanma walked through the borders of Wakanda as if they were not there, past the Dora Milaje, past the defences, and into the throne room itself. T’Challa rose from his throne, his vibranium suit forming around him. “You have walked into my kingdom uninvited.” Yujiro grinned. “I walk wherever I want.”
T’Challa’s claws extended. “Then you will leave the same way.” Yujiro looked at the glowing suit with interest. “They say your armour absorbs every blow and gives it back.” T’Challa nodded. “It does.” Yujiro laughed, cracked his neck, and set his feet. “Then let us see how much it can hold.”
The Dora Milaje raised their spears. T’Challa raised his hand to stop them. This was a king’s fight.
Round One
T’Challa attacked first, fast and precise, his claws striking at Yujiro’s face, his throat, his chest. Yujiro dodged most of them and took a few, laughing as they opened thin cuts across his skin. Then he threw a punch at T’Challa’s chest, and the vibranium glowed violet as it absorbed the impact.
T’Challa smiled behind his mask. He let Yujiro hit him again, and again, the suit glowing brighter with every blow. Then he raised his palm and released all the stored energy in a single blast. Yujiro flew across the throne room and crashed into a pillar.
He got up, shook off the dust, and grinned. “Interesting armour. Again.”
The Turn
Yujiro attacked again, deliberately, punching the suit over and over, each blow harder than the last. The vibranium absorbed them, glowing brighter, brighter, until the violet light filled the throne room. T’Challa felt the suit straining. He had never stored so much energy. He released it in another blast.
Yujiro took the blast full on, staggered, and kept coming. He punched the suit again, harder than before, harder than T’Challa had believed possible. The vibranium absorbed what it could. Then a thin crack appeared across the chest plate.
T’Challa stared at the crack. Nothing had ever cracked the suit.
The Finish
T’Challa adapted brilliantly, switching from absorbing to evading, striking at Yujiro’s joints and nerve clusters with the skill of a master. He landed blow after blow. But Yujiro had found the suit’s limit, and he kept hitting it, and the cracks spread, until with one final punch, the chest plate shattered.
T’Challa was thrown to the floor of his own throne room, the suit broken, the herb’s strength the only thing keeping him conscious. Yujiro stood over him, bleeding from a dozen claw wounds, breathing hard. The Dora Milaje surrounded him, spears lowered. He ignored them.
“A king who fights his own battles,” Yujiro said, looking down at T’Challa. “Your country is fortunate.” He turned and walked out of the throne room, and the Dora Milaje, at a gesture from their king, let him go. T’Challa spent a year redesigning the suit. He named the new version after Yujiro, privately, as a reminder.
The verdict
Yujiro Hanma wins
Black Panther’s vibranium suit absorbs and returns Yujiro’s blows, and T’Challa fights brilliantly, but Yujiro deliberately hits the suit harder than it can absorb until the vibranium cracks.
- Overloading the suitYujiro hits harder than the vibranium can store.
- DurabilityHe takes the stored energy blasts and keeps coming.
- Fighting intelligenceHe finds the suit’s limit on purpose.
How the rematch could go differently: A T’Challa with the full Wakandan arsenal and the Dora Milaje fighting beside him could overwhelm even the Ogre.
