The Arena
Yujiro Hanma came to a world of heroes and found the one they called the Symbol of Peace, the man whose smile had held an entire society together for decades. He found All Might standing in the ruins of a city after a villain attack, helping rescue workers lift rubble, smiling for the frightened children.
All Might turned and saw the giant with the demon face on his back, and his smile did not falter. “Ah! A visitor! Can I help you, young man?” Yujiro grinned. “They say you are the strongest hero in this world.” All Might laughed his booming laugh. “That is what they say! But strength is meaningless without someone to protect!”
Yujiro’s grin widened. “Then show me what strength means to you.” All Might looked at him for a long moment, and his smile grew more serious.
Round One
They met in the middle of the ruined city, and their first punches collided with a shockwave that blew out every window for a kilometre. Yujiro staggered back. All Might staggered back. Both of them grinned. Neither of them had ever met someone who could stand up to their full strength.
All Might threw a Detroit Smash, and Yujiro took it on his chest and slid back through a building. Yujiro answered with a punch that drove All Might into the street. They traded blows across the ruins, the most powerful exchange either of them had ever been part of, each one shaking the city to its foundations.
Every time one of them went down, the other waited for him to get up. Every time, he did.
The Turn
All Might gathered everything he had into his ultimate attack, United States of Smash, a punch with enough force to change the weather. Yujiro saw it coming and did not dodge. He wanted to feel it. It hit him full on, and the Ogre was driven through three city blocks, leaving a trench of destruction behind him.
He rose from the rubble, his body broken in a dozen places, blood running down his face, and laughed louder than he had ever laughed. He walked back through the trench toward All Might. All Might, steam rising from his body, his own strength nearly spent, smiled at him with genuine respect.
They faced each other in the ruins, both of them swaying, both of them refusing to fall.
The Finish
Yujiro threw one more punch. All Might threw one more punch. They struck each other at exactly the same moment, and both of them were knocked backwards and landed on their backs in the rubble, staring up at the sky. Neither of them got up. Both of them could have. Neither of them wanted to.
All Might began to laugh, then Yujiro did, the two of them lying in the ruins of the city, laughing until they could not breathe. “You are the strongest man I have ever fought,” Yujiro said finally. All Might wiped his eyes. “And you are the strongest villain I have ever faced.” Yujiro grinned. “I am not a villain.” All Might considered this. “Then what are you?”
Yujiro thought about it for a long time, lying in the rubble. “A man who wanted to meet someone like you,” he said. The rescue workers found them still lying there an hour later, side by side, watching the clouds. Nobody won. Both of them agreed it was the best fight of their lives.
