The Arena
Miyamoto Musashi, brought back to life through cloning and spirit medium in the modern world, had already cut down the strongest martial artists of Japan. He wanted something more. A rift opened in front of him one night, and he stepped through it into a ruined shrine, where a young man with a cloak and one sleeve empty sat watching the moon.
Sasuke Uchiha turned his head. One eye was black. The other was purple with ripples. “You are not from this world,” he said. Musashi smiled, a wide, hungry smile. “No. And you are the most dangerous thing I have seen in four hundred years.” He drew his swords.
Sasuke stood slowly and drew his own blade with his one remaining hand. The moonlight caught both swords at the same moment.
Round One
Musashi attacked, and he did not need his swords to do it. His killing intent was so strong that opponents in his world felt themselves cut by imaginary blades. Sasuke felt it too: a phantom slash across his throat, his chest, his arm. His Sharingan saw that nothing had touched him, but his body flinched anyway.
Then the real swords came, and Musashi was the greatest swordsman Sasuke had ever faced. Every strike was perfect, every movement purposeful. Sasuke blocked, read and countered with the Sharingan, and for a few minutes the two of them fought as pure swordsmen, steel against steel in the moonlight.
Musashi landed a real cut across Sasuke’s shoulder. He grinned. Sasuke’s eyes narrowed. He was done fighting fair.
The Turn
Musashi committed to a killing strike, the kind that had ended the lives of countless warriors, and Sasuke used Amenotejikara, the Rinnegan’s power to swap positions instantly. Musashi’s blade cut through a stone lantern instead of Sasuke, and Sasuke was suddenly behind him, his sword wreathed in black lightning.
Musashi turned just in time and blocked, and the lightning surged through his blade into his arms. He staggered back, his hands burning. He had faced every kind of warrior in his long life. He had never faced someone who could be in two places at once.
He laughed, delighted, and attacked again with everything he had. Sasuke raised his hand, and a purple giant made of chakra rose around him.
The Finish
Susanoo. A towering armoured warrior of purple flame, with a sword as long as a building. Musashi looked up at it, his eyes shining with something close to joy. Then he charged, alone, with two swords, straight at the giant. His imaginary blades and his real ones struck the Susanoo again and again.
He cracked it. A human swordsman with two steel blades put a crack in the armour of a Susanoo. Sasuke saw it and, for the first time in years, felt genuine respect. Then the Susanoo’s sword came down, and Sasuke stopped it a hand’s width above Musashi’s head, pinning the swordsman under its enormous weight.
Musashi lay there, smiling up at the giant purple blade. “You are stronger than any man I have ever faced,” he said. Sasuke released the Susanoo. “You are not a man,” he said quietly. “You are a ghost who refuses to rest.” Musashi laughed and closed his eyes. “Yes,” he said. “And what a beautiful fight to haunt.”
The verdict
Sasuke Uchiha wins
Musashi is the greatest swordsman in the Baki world, and his imaginary blades and real skill push Sasuke in a pure duel, but the Rinnegan’s teleportation, black lightning and Susanoo put Sasuke on a different level.
- RinneganAmenotejikara lets Sasuke dodge any strike by swapping positions.
- SusanooA giant chakra warrior no human sword can break.
- LightningBlack lightning flows through Musashi’s blades into his body.
How the rematch could go differently: In a pure sword duel with no chakra, Musashi’s four hundred years of instinct would make him the favourite.
