The Arena
Homelander came to a world where heroes were ranked by popularity and decided, immediately, that he would be number one. He crashed the hero ranking ceremony in Musutafu, landing on the stage, smiling for the cameras. “Ladies and gentlemen, your new Symbol of Peace!” The crowd went silent. Then a green-haired young man stepped out from the line of heroes.
“That title belonged to All Might,” Deku said quietly. “And he earned it by saving people. Not by announcing it.” Homelander turned and looked at the young hero with amusement. “And who are you?” Deku’s body began to crackle with green lightning. “Someone who inherited it.”
Homelander laughed. “Then let’s see if you’re worth inheriting anything.”
Round One
Homelander fired his heat vision, and Deku dodged it with One For All at forty-five percent, green lightning trailing behind him. He struck Homelander in the jaw, and Homelander staggered, surprised. He hit back, and Deku blocked it, his arms aching, but standing.
They fought across the stage and into the city, Deku using every Quirk he had inherited: Blackwhip to grab Homelander’s cape, Float to follow him into the sky, Smokescreen to blind his X-ray vision. Homelander had never fought anyone with so many tricks. He was used to winning by being stronger.
He hit Deku with a punch that sent him crashing through a building. Deku climbed out of the rubble and kept coming.
The Turn
Frustrated, Homelander turned his heat vision on the crowd of fans below, people who had come to see their heroes ranked. It was the same trick he always used. It had never failed. Deku saw it coming, and something inside him exploded: the will of every One For All user, nine generations of heroes, rising at once.
He moved faster than Homelander could see, one hundred percent, his whole body blazing green, and caught the heat vision with Blackwhip, redirecting it into the sky. The crowd was untouched. Deku hovered in front of Homelander, his eyes burning with the light of nine generations.
Homelander stared at him, and for the first time, the smile faltered. He had never faced anyone who was angry for someone else.
The Finish
Deku hit him with a United States of Smash, the technique his teacher had used to defeat the greatest villain of their age. It struck Homelander in the chest and drove him into the ground with a force that changed the weather, a column of wind rising into the sky above the city.
Homelander lay in the crater, stunned, his body nearly invulnerable but his mind shaken. He had been beaten by a teenager, in front of a crowd, on camera. He looked up at Deku standing at the edge of the crater, expecting contempt. He saw only determination. “You’re not a hero,” Deku said quietly. “Heroes save people. Even when nobody’s watching.”
Homelander fled into the sky. The crowd cheered, louder than they had ever cheered, and Deku stood on the stage with his arms trembling from the effort. All Might, in his thin form, stood in the wings, crying. He had always known his successor would become a symbol. He had not expected it to happen today.
The verdict
Izuku Midoriya wins
Homelander is stronger in raw power, but Deku has the will of nine generations of One For All users, a dozen Quirks Homelander has no answer to, and he fights hardest when protecting others.
- One For AllAt one hundred percent, Deku matches Homelander’s strength.
- Multiple QuirksBlackwhip, Float and Smokescreen counter Homelander’s advantages.
- Protecting othersHomelander’s trick of threatening civilians makes Deku stronger.
How the rematch could go differently: A Deku who had not yet mastered One For All would be overwhelmed by Homelander’s raw power.
