The Arena
Zoro got lost again, which was not unusual. He walked through a door on the Grand Line and came out in a bar in the Canadian wilderness, covered in snow. At the bar, a short, hairy man in a leather jacket was drinking beer and smoking a cigar. Logan looked at the green-haired swordsman with three blades. “You lost, bub?”
Zoro sat down at the bar. “No.” Logan raised an eyebrow. “You walked in through the bathroom door.” Zoro ordered a drink. “That’s where the bar is.” Logan snorted. They drank in silence for a while. Then Zoro noticed the scars on Logan’s knuckles. Three on each hand. Perfectly spaced.
“You’re a swordsman,” Zoro said. Logan popped his claws. “Kind of.” Zoro grinned and put one sword in his mouth.
Round One
They crashed through the bar wall into the snow outside. Zoro attacked with Three Sword Style, a whirlwind of blades. Logan met them with his claws, sparks flying, adamantium against steel. Zoro was the far better swordsman, every strike precise and powerful, and he cut Logan across the chest, the arm, the shoulder.
Logan healed every cut in seconds. He came back at Zoro snarling, berserker fury in his eyes, and his claws slashed through Zoro’s coat and drew blood. Zoro stepped back, surprised. This man fought like an animal.
Zoro coated his blades in Armament Haki, and his next strike hit Logan’s claws with the full force of his will. The claws did not break. Zoro stared.
The Turn
Zoro unleashed Asura, the demon form with nine swords, and the blades fell on Logan from every direction. They cut through flesh, muscle and skin, but every time a blade reached the bone, it stopped. Logan’s skeleton was laced with adamantium, the strongest metal in the Marvel universe. It does not break. It does not cut.
Logan healed from every wound and kept coming, snarling, unstoppable. Zoro landed blow after blow, and every one of them should have ended the fight. None of them did. For the first time in his life, Zoro was facing an opponent he could not cut down.
“What are you made of?” Zoro asked, breathing hard. Logan grinned through the blood. “Bad decisions, mostly.”
The Finish
Zoro fought on, magnificent, his swords flashing in the snow. But he was getting tired, and Logan was not. Logan never really gets tired. His healing factor clears away fatigue as easily as it clears away wounds. Eventually, Zoro’s swing slowed by a fraction, and Logan slipped inside it.
He pinned Zoro to the snow with his claws on either side of his neck, adamantium blades buried in the frozen ground, an inch from his throat. Zoro lay there, breathing hard, his swords scattered. He did not ask for mercy. He never would.
Logan pulled his claws out of the snow and offered him a hand. “Best swordsman I ever fought,” he said. Zoro took it, scowling. “You cheated. You can’t be cut.” Logan shrugged. “Ain’t cheating if it’s how you’re built.” They went back into the bar, ordered more drinks, and Zoro somehow got lost on the way to the bathroom again.
The verdict
Wolverine wins
Zoro is the far better swordsman and lands blow after blow, but Wolverine heals from every wound, his adamantium skeleton cannot be cut, and he outlasts the swordsman.
- AdamantiumZoro’s blades cannot cut through Logan’s skeleton.
- Healing factorLogan recovers from every wound and never tires.
- EnduranceZoro eventually slows; Logan does not.
How the rematch could go differently: A Zoro who perfected Advanced Conqueror’s Haki on his blades might finally cut something that cannot be cut.
