The Arena
A rift between worlds dropped Ichigo Kurosaki into a ruined temple in feudal Japan, where he found a half-demon with white hair and dog ears snarling at him over a rusty sword. Inuyasha had smelled something strange in the air: part human, part spirit, part something darker. He drew Tessaiga, and the rusty blade transformed into a massive fang.
Ichigo sighed. “I don’t suppose you’d believe me if I said I’m just lost.” Inuyasha did not.
Round One
Inuyasha attacked like a storm, his claws and Tessaiga hammering at Ichigo from all sides. He was fast, aggressive and incredibly durable, the kind of fighter who keeps coming no matter how hard you hit him. Ichigo blocked with Zangetsu, the huge black blade ringing.
Ichigo answered with Getsuga Tensho, a crescent of black energy that tore through the temple and blew Inuyasha through a wall. The half-demon crawled out of the rubble grinning. “Not bad. My turn.” He swung Tessaiga down. “Wind Scar!”
They clashed again in the courtyard, sword on fang, sparks raining across the broken stones. Inuyasha’s claws raked Ichigo’s arm; Ichigo’s elbow broke Inuyasha’s nose. Both of them were the kind of fighter who gets stronger when cornered, and both of them were starting to enjoy themselves.
The Turn
The Wind Scar ripped across the ruins, five lines of destruction that tore the temple apart. Ichigo dodged most of it, but the edge caught his shoulder and opened a wound that bled freely. Inuyasha pressed his advantage, swinging again and again.
Ichigo stopped holding back. His sword shrank into a slim black blade, his coat into a flowing black robe, and his speed multiplied. Bankai: Tensa Zangetsu. Suddenly Inuyasha was swinging at afterimages, and Ichigo was everywhere at once, cutting at him from directions he could not track.
Inuyasha snarled in frustration, sniffing the air, trying to track the Soul Reaper by scent instead of sight. It half worked. He caught Ichigo once, a slash of claws across the back, and roared in triumph. Then the black blade slipped past Tessaiga and cut him from shoulder to hip.
The Finish
Inuyasha was tough, tougher than most enemies Ichigo had fought, and he refused to go down. He found the Wind Scar again and unleashed it with everything he had, a wave of power that could cut down an army.
Ichigo met it with a point-blank Getsuga Tensho from his Bankai, black and red light exploding through the ruins. The blast tore through the Wind Scar and threw Inuyasha out of the temple and into the forest beyond, where he landed in a heap, Tessaiga falling from his hands and turning back into a rusty sword.
Ichigo landed beside him, breathing hard. Inuyasha glared up at him through the leaves. “Who the hell are you?” Ichigo offered him a hand. “Just a Soul Reaper. Do you know the way out of here?” Inuyasha, despite himself, laughed.
The verdict
Ichigo Kurosaki wins
Inuyasha is tough and the Wind Scar is devastating, but Ichigo’s Bankai gives him speed and power on another level, and his later abilities outscale anything the feudal era offers.
- Bankai speedTensa Zangetsu makes Ichigo far faster than Inuyasha can track.
- Power scaleIchigo’s attacks outgrow the Wind Scar.
- Battle experienceIchigo has fought captains and gods of the afterlife.
How the rematch could go differently: Against an early Ichigo, before his Bankai, Inuyasha’s durability and the Wind Scar would make him the favourite.
