The Arena
Thragg had heard of Saiyans, a warrior race from another universe said to grow stronger every time they fought. A conqueror does not ignore a race like that. He tracked the strongest of them, a cheerful man in an orange gi, to a barren asteroid where Goku was training alone.
Goku looked up from his push-ups and smiled. “Hey! You look really strong. Want to spar?” Thragg did not smile back. “I do not spar. I conquer. Kneel, or die.” Goku’s smile only grew. “Okay, so that’s a yes.”
Round One
Thragg struck with blinding speed, a punch that would have cracked a Viltrumite’s skull. Goku caught it, but the force sent him skidding across the asteroid. He laughed and went Super Saiyan, his hair blazing gold, and the two of them traded blows across the barren rock.
Thragg was a brutal, efficient fighter, trained for war since birth. Every blow was meant to kill. But Goku moved with a joy that Thragg had never seen in an opponent, a happiness that made him stronger with every exchange. Thragg found himself irritated, then curious, then, for the first time in centuries, a little worried.
They flew off the asteroid and fought in open space, shock waves rippling through the dust of a nearby belt. Thragg landed a combination that broke Goku’s nose and cracked a rib. Goku wiped the blood away, still grinning, and asked him to do it again so he could see how.
The Turn
Thragg landed a devastating blow, a knee to the stomach that bent Goku in half, and followed it with a hammer-fist that drove him into the asteroid. A conqueror finishes his enemies, and Thragg flew down to do it.
Goku rose out of the crater, and his aura changed: blue, then silver, his eyes calm and empty. Ultra Instinct. Now Thragg’s fists met only empty air. Goku moved before Thragg did, slipping every blow, and his counters began to land with surgical precision.
The Finish
Thragg fought with everything he had, every technique of Viltrumite war, every ounce of the will that had made him Grand Regent. It was not enough. Goku’s strikes came faster than thought, each one cracking his armor further.
Finally, Goku charged a Kamehameha and fired it point-blank. The blast carried Thragg off the asteroid and into the darkness of space, leaving him drifting, battered and stunned.
Goku flew after him, offered a hand and grinned. “That was awesome! You’re one of the strongest guys I’ve ever fought!” Thragg stared at him, utterly baffled. Nobody had ever thanked him for a fight. “You are a strange creature,” he said at last. “Yeah,” said Goku. “I get that a lot. Same time next week?”
The verdict
Goku wins
Thragg is a brutal, experienced conqueror and lands real damage, but Goku’s transformations push him onto a higher power scale, and Ultra Instinct makes Thragg’s attacks miss entirely.
- TransformationsGoku’s forms multiply his power far beyond Viltrumite levels.
- Ultra InstinctHis body dodges attacks before his mind registers them.
- Growth in battleGoku gets stronger as the fight goes on.
How the rematch could go differently: Against a base-form Goku, Thragg’s speed, experience and ruthlessness could end the fight before Goku transforms.
